Some people aren't afraid of faking product features before they actually work. After all fake publicity is better than no publicity at all! Don't let these people shine over you, so you should talk about your work in progress. But make clear this is work in progress!
Don't promise the impossible too. If by chance you attract interest, you'll have to deliver else you'll loose more credibitiliy than if you had never said anything.
