Unfortunately new products sales take much longer to pick up speed than you'd expect. Take this into account when you're starting from scratch.
As an example, hearing aids took more than 10 years to be adopted despite the real benefits they brought right from the beginning. The demand was just not there at the beginning.
Unless you're really sure about what you're doing, focus on things that people know and can relate to easily when you're starting your project. Later when you've got a name, more cash and legitimacy in the eyes of your customers you'll be in a much better position to push completely new products.
