Communicate to be understood

It's great to feel empowered and master what you're talking about, as long as people understand what you're saying.

Research shows that only 10% of the message are effectively understood depending on the context. So talk like you've got Forrest Gump in front of you... but don't act like an idiot and make sure the message's carried across.

Then build up your case, add examples, ask questions. If you've started simply you can always add details later on if people are still interested. Increase in intensity and bring in value, you'll soon collect the ripe benefits.
